A Typical Alpha Session Includes...

30 to 45 minutes for a meal.  Most evening courses begin with a meal of some kind, ranging from
a full dinner to a light snack.  Guests usually eat with other members of a group of 12 people.

30 - 40 Minutes for a talk.  The main talk of the session addresses a key issue relating to
Christianity.  Numerous courses use a DVD of speaker Nicky Gumbel giving the talk, but many
others use a live speaker.

1 Hour for refreshments and small group discussion.  Guests often find the small group
discussion to be the most valuable and rewarding times of the whole course.  The sessions are
an opportunity to ask questions, express opinions and to discuss the topic of the evening.  Small
groups also provide an opportunity to make friends and share ideas in a relaxed and
non-threatening environment.

There are many other ways that Alpha is being offered in unique settings and shorter time
allotments.  But no matter what the specific arrangements may be for a course, ALL Alpha
sessions unfold "in community."  Relationships and lively discussion are key to the exploration of
faith!
